We don't have to choose between our health and the economy. In fact, we can't have one without the other. As we move from pandemic to recovery, local governments across Wisconsin can advance plans, policies, and budgets that get us to a better "new normal."
Connecting the changes we seek with improvements in people's health and well-being can aid in advancing our work. Health data and framing can support change efforts, whether that's use of American Rescue Plan funding, improving housing conditions, expanding childcare, increasing access to broadband, or another priority. A health lens can also support inclusive decision making. People thrive when we see ourselves as valued members of our communities.
In this session, we'll describe a framework for using a health lens in local government decision making and provide examples from Wisconsin.
Presented by Paula Tran Inzeo, MATCH Group Director; Jonathan Heller, Senior Health Equity Fellow; Michael Stevenson, Evidence and Policy Health Analysis Team Leader; and Wajiha Akhtar, Assistant Director, University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
